Our Attorney-at-Law (i.e. a Barrister-at-Law
and Solicitor combined) is rahim bacchus, jnr. He
received his education at Queen’s College and the University
of Guyana in his native Guyana (formerly British Guiana); at the
University of the West Indies (U.W.I.) Barbados campus; at the Norman
Manley Law School in Jamaica and at the Institute of Social Studies
in the Hague, The Netherlands.
He is the recipient of a U.W.I. post-graduate scholarship
and a Government of the Netherlands fellowship.
He taught at University level from September1982
to January 2006 and was Deputy Dean of the U.W.I.’s Faculty
of Law at the Barbados campus. He has published two manuals on commercial
law; several articles in academic journals and has delivered many
conference papers and public lectures in several countries in the
Caribbean and Latin America on a wide variety of legal topics. Until
April 2006 he wrote a weekly column on consumer affairs in a leading
newspaper in Barbados. He also serves as the chairman of a National
Insurance Scheme Appeals Tribunal.
He has been practicing law in Barbados since 1987
and his current full-time practice specializes in all aspects of
commercial law especially that relating to contracts, conveyancing
of property being bought or sold and formation of local & offshore
companies; (many purchasers opt to purchase properties in either
local or offshore companies).
